Perched on the sunny sides of the Verdon, between 1200 and 1300 meters of altitude, grow a very special flower: the wild lavender also known as the fine lavender. From beginning of July, the moutain transform itself and become purple all over! It gives a lavender of fine olfactory quality. The fine lavender must be not mistaken with the lavandin – which is grown on the Valensole plateau.
From July the 25th to August the 15th, we meet up with producers, pickers and distillers of organic essential oils. Following the producer along the picking trail, you will learn all about the fine lavender’s properties, its secrets and how it has been used for centuries. You will then witness the distillation and discover all the details of this delicate process.
